Vantage Logistics Successfully Delivers Two 112+ TON Transformers from Viet Nam to South Africa
Vantage Logistics has completed the transport of two oversized transformers from Hai Phong, Viet Nam to Durban, South Africa – a technically demanding intercontinental shipment requiring strict operational control and specialised handling.

With a combined weight exceeding 112 tonnes and complex cargo specifications, the project required advanced lifting solutions, continuous safety supervision, and disciplined schedule management to safeguard both equipment integrity and client timelines.

Project Highlights
  • Commodity: Transformers
  • Volume: 2 unit, 6.16mL x 3.42mW x 4.4mH x 56.4 TONS/unit
  • Port of Loading (POL): Hai Phong, Viet Nam
  • Port of Discharge  (POD): Durban, South Africa
  • Time of Shipment: 01/02/2026
  • Scope of Work:
    • International ocean freight from Hai Phong (Viet Nam) to Durban (South Africa)
    • On-board loading and lashing supervision

Transformers are high-value industrial assets with complex internal structures that allow no margin for error during lifting or sea transport. This shipment involved several critical factors:
  • Heavy weight requiring specialised lifting equipment and reinforced securing plans
  • Oversized dimensions demanding precise vessel space optimisation
  • Long-haul routing from Asia to Africa requiring end-to-end risk control
  • Continuous safety monitoring throughout the voyage

With over 24 years of hands-on experience in international project logistics, Vantage Logistics focused on delivering practical, risk-controlled execution:

1. Optimised Transport Method
To balance cost efficiency and transit reliability, Vantage proposed breakbulk shipment on a container vessel. This approach allowed the client to utilise stable and frequent mainline sailings while ensuring safe accommodation for oversized and overweight cargo.

2. On-Site Technical Supervision
Lashing and securing operations were conducted under strict international safety standards:
  • Continuous supervision during lifting operations using specialised heavy-lift equipment
  • Thorough verification of stowage plans to confirm correct positioning and weight distribution
  • Approval of lashing arrangements to ensure load-bearing capacity and voyage stability against vibration and sea movement

3. Schedule Control
Early 2026 sailing schedules faced potential weather disruptions and port rotation adjustments.

Vantage maintained close coordination with the carrier and terminal operators to proactively manage vessel updates, minimise delays, and control additional costs for the client...
