Vantage Logistics Executes Expedited Transport: 5,000 Tons Breakbulk & 1,400 TEUs for LSP Complex
23/05/2026
The project comprised 5,000 tons of steel plates and 1,400 TEUs of containerized cargo. It demanded an expedited delivery schedule and seamless operational coordination among the port, the transport providers, and the construction site.
Project Highlights:
- Commodity: Steel plates
- Volume: 5,000 total tons of breakbulk cargo and 1,400 TEUs of containerized cargo
- Port of Discharge (POD): Port of Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam
- Delivery Address: Long Son Construction Site, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, Viet Nam
- Time of Shipment: 3/2026
- Scope of Work: Port receiving at Ho Chi Minh City Port (imported under CFR terms), stevedoring, domestic transport, and job-site delivery to Long Sơn (DDU terms)

High Volume, Tight Schedule, and the Pressure of Synchronized Coordination
The project’s primary challenge lay in simultaneously receiving and handling two cargo types with completely different operational requirements: high-volume breakbulk (5,000 tons of steel plates) and containerized freight (1,400 TEUs). Both cargo streams required rapid customs clearance and swift port evacuation to minimize demurrage and storage fees.
The Vantage Logistics field team executed parallel on-site operations:
- Organized technical supervision for the discharging and cross-docking of breakbulk cargo from the vessel onto transport vehicles at the port.
- Mobilized a continuous fleet of tractors and specialized trailers, optimizing vehicle turnaround times to meet the relentless port-out schedule.
- Coordinated customs clearance by batch to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted flow of transport vehicles.

Route Surveying: Ensuring Safety for Heavy-Lift Cargo
Beyond scheduling pressures, the high payload of the steel plate components imposed strict requirements on the transport plan.
Prior to deployment, the Vantage Logistics engineering team conducted a detailed route survey from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Son to evaluate the feasibility of operating specialized transport vehicles.
The survey focused on critical variables such as turning radii, bridge and road weight limits, and overall infrastructure conditions along the corridor. Utilizing this field data, an axle-load distribution plan was engineered specifically for each cargo type to ensure safety during transit.
In parallel, trucking schedules were dispatched during optimal hours to mitigate traffic impact and reduce the risk of schedule delays.

Just-in-Time Delivery Aligned with On-Site Assembly
In addition to securing transportation capacity, the project demanded delivery coordination that aligned precisely with the actual construction sequence on-site.
The Vantage Logistics team worked directly with the client to categorize materials, sequence the delivery schedule, and prioritize the transport of components destined for immediate assembly phases.
This staging strategy prevented cargo bottlenecks at the job-site holding yard while ensuring that materials were delivered just-in-time for construction needs. The dispatch department also updated the delivery plan in real time to sustain continuous operational momentum for the entire project.

The steel plate shipments for the LSP Complex serve as another example of the oversized/overweight (OSOW) transport capabilities that Vantage Logistics regularly deploys for industrial and EPC projects across Viet Nam.
Depending on the technical specifications of each shipment, the operations team designs a customized transport solution centered on safety, load control, and construction schedule adherence.
The deployment framework includes:
- Route surveying
- Infrastructure assessment
- Axle-load distribution calculations
- Selection of specialized vehicles tailored to the actual dimensions of the cargo
In addition to road transport, Vantage Logistics implements multimodal transport solutions – combining inland waterway and ocean freight – to optimize transit times and costs for each project.
Concurrently, the company operates an integrated logistics system that covers port and job-site stevedoring, staged warehousing tailored to construction phases, and an on-site technical supervision team experienced in handling specialized industrial cargo.
This synchronized coordination among transport, warehousing, and field dispatch enables projects to maintain steady progress while mitigating risks during construction and installation.
